Cameroon is known as a producer of robusta coffee, although one-third of its crop is the Blue Mountain variety of arabica, which is grown in the western volcanic regions. Primarily wet-processed, at one time the arabica coffees produced on the European plantations squalled the high-quality coffees of Central Africa. The robusta growths, first brought from Zaire, are grown now in all provinces expect in the extreme north.
